Our campaign pledge

The industrial minerals industry is witnessing transformative advancements through autonomous vehicles, robotic mining equipment, and inspection and maintenance robots and this transformation bring new health and safety challenges. IMA-Europe is keen to exchange good practices on this topic and we will spread and advertise the Campaign’s messages and tools as much as possible, internally and externally.

“IMA-Europe Members are very interested in exchanging good practices on the theme of safe and healthy work in the digital age. Indeed, integrating robotics into the mining and quarrying industry presents immense potential for safer, more efficient, and cost-effective operations. The industry is witnessing transformative advancements through autonomous vehicles, robotic mining equipment, and inspection and maintenance robots. It is obvious that robotics and artificial intelligence can support and replace personnel operating in hazardous environments, and big data enables more effective monitoring systems. Remote working is also highly relevant for the industrial minerals sectors (as all sectors) and it brings its own health and safety risks, from workstation ergonomics to mental health challenges.
We look forward to being partner and receiving and disseminating the tools and guidance materials of this very topical campaign”
, said the President, Claver Jean-Francois.

The industrial minerals’ workers, as in most industries, may have to carry heavy loads during their working days, but our companies are constantly looking for solutions to avoid this problem and the possible adverse health consequences. Musculoskeletal disorders are one of the leading causes of disabilities and sick leaves, and it is in the interest of everyone to try and avoid them. IMA-Europe Members always look for better prevention and protection of their workers’ health and wellbeing, and we look forward to receiving and disseminating the tools and guidance materials of this very topical campaign“.
