EBA was founded in 1998 as the representative body of the European borates industry.

The activities of the association comprise all non-commercial aspects relating to borates, with particular emphasis on health and safety, environment, and sustainable development. It is a member of IMA – Europe, the European Industrial Minerals Association. The membership of EBA comprises 3 companies operating in Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, and the UK. EBA covers more than 95% of the EU borates production.
